Generall Asked Questions
/01What are body Kits?
Car body kit is a collection of exterior modifications to a car, typically consisting of front and rear bumpers, side skirts, spoilers, and sometimes wing mirrors. This modification is needed for your vehicle to perform at its peak level. They are usually installed by car owners or car enthusiasts to improve the overall appearance of their new car and create a custom look.
Body kit types
Over the last couple of decades, four kinds of body kits have been the go-to for customizing cars:
Lip kits are a great start for newbie enthusiasts. They’re relatively cheaper in the market, but their designs can vastly improve the look of a car and still be easy to install—you literally just need to bolt them in!
Bumper kits are another type of kit that can also make obvious improvements to a car. Replacing factory bumpers with these bad boys gives character and weight to an otherwise ordinary look.
Wide-body kits extend a car’s fenders as well as use broad bumpers to widen the profile of a car. This kit is a staple for most more experienced car enthusiasts, and for others it’s a great reason to replace their banged-up car bumpers.
4.Full Body Kits
Full body kits are the biggest investment among the four as it usually involves a complete redesign of a car’s body from front to back. Experienced enthusiasts recommend working on a specific area first to stagger the cost.
Aside from these four kits, some car shops can offer to fully customize kits to really show the personality and uniqueness of an enthusiast’s car for a price.
Kit material types
Another big factor that cuts into the cost of car customization is the type of material your body kits can be made with. Picking and choosing is not so easy since each material offers different pros and cons:
1.Fiberglass body kit
One of the most common types of material is fiberglass. It’s easy to find on the market and is relatively cheap. fiberglass is also ideal for outside exposure because of its resistance to temperature. However, fiberglass can be prone to buckling in compression if not made correctly.
2.Carbon fiber kit
Last among the usual picks is carbon fiber. Carbon fiber is an extremely strong and light material. While the carbon fiber themselves are not affected by moisture, the binding polymers which keep the carbon fiber together can. This can be moderated depending on the polymers use, but of course comes at a hefty cost.
/02Why do I need a body kit?
One of the main reasons people choose custom body kits is because they simply want to improve the appearance of the car, making it look wider, lower, or longer, in another words - create a custom look for your car. Your vehicle will look more stylish, more sporty, or even more aggressive than other vehicles of the same model.
/03Do body kits affect performance?
Body kits can improve a car's appearance and aerodynamics, but they won't necessarily improve its performance. If you're looking to improve your car's performance, consider adding a spoiler or diffuser. These components can help to improve your car's traction and handling. But if you're just looking to make your car look cooler, body kits are a great way to do it. There's no right or wrong answer when it comes to body kits. It all depends on what you're looking for. So whether you're after better performance or just a new look, body kits can help you get it.
/04What are the pros and cons between "dry carbon" and "wet carbon"?
Dry vs. wet involves completely different processes of manufacturing. As for pros and cons, here is a brief summary: simply put, dry carbon is best for race usage so you get the most strength and save the most weight. the weaves and quality are more consistent, but they are generally 3 to 4 times more expensive than wet carbon.
Wet carbon products are hand-laid or vacuum infused. and are more prone to small defects like wavy weaves and tiny bubbles. they do not save as much weight as their dry carbon counterparts. but on the plus side, you get an incredible combination of visual attraction, weight-reduction, and most importantly, price. wet carbon products are the most popular and most commonly referred to as just"carbon fiber".
/05Do products made by Carbonado Body Kits come with pre-drilled holes for installation?
Some of the products we manufacture come with pre-drilled holes and some do not. The products that do not have pre-drilled holes will have indentations for where the mounting holes need to be drilled. The reason we do not pre-drill holes on every product is many of our customers are installing our products on vehicles that are heavily modified. Vehicles that have major modifications or that are used in extreme conditions may need different mounting placements for a product. If your mounting placements are in factory locations, the indentations on our products will be where they need to be for installation; simply drilling a hole is all that is needed.
/06What is your return policy?
We handle returns fairly. In most cases, shipping charges incurred to you will not be refunded. The same goes for shipping back to us. If an item had free shipping, of course, shipping actually was paid by us and actual shipping charges will not be refunded and will be deducted from any refunds. In addition, a restocking fee may be charged if items are not resellable as new or returnable to our suppliers. Restocking fees vary but are typically 10-25%. Every case is handled a little differently depending on circumstances and we do try very hard to be fair.
/07How to maintain the product?
Your carbon fiber product is durable, but it still needs care and maintenance to stay looking good, more specifically, keep the products clean. Minimize exposure to the sun, and wax when necessary. For carbon fiber hoods in particular, it is important that you use heat shields under the hood to avoid per-mature aging. All dry-carbon products are sold raw and consumers must protect the product upon receipt.
Choosing the right body kit for your vehicles important if you want to achieve the desired results!
/08Do the Carbonado parts require any special parts or skills to install?
Parts such as wings are relatively easy to install and can be installed if you are comfortable using a power drill and handtools. We typically provide either a template or drilling guides to assist with the alignment and drilling. Side skirts and fairings require special fitting to assure an integrated appearance and require a greater level of skill to install. Some people take the extra steps of using body filler to blend the side sills into the car to provide a completely seamless look. Nose kits and bumpers may seem imposing, but they can be relatively easy to remove and install. These parts require removal of factory installed mounting brackets, and reinstallation on the new nose or bumper. Most professional car dealers or custom auto body works can do the task in a snap. For a novice , NO it is not easy to install as it is not a snap on tool.
/09How to Install a Bodykit?
Body kit modification and installation does not come cheap. Custom kits are different from factory kits and may not easily fit into a car’s chassis. It’s advisable that taking your car to a professional mechanic if you're not comfortable doing the work yourself.
Keep an eye out for shops that specialize in working specific materials as well as they are better equipped to handle the kind of material your kits are made of. If your kits are made with carbon fiber, it would be best to consult with a shop that is better equipped to work with carbon fiber.
